Your Team Responsibilities

At their core, the Research Content Writer/Editor must be a very strong, versatile writer who can take complicated ideas and simplify them into an easy to digest, engaging manner and repurpose these ideas to suit multiple audiences and formats.  He, she or they will be responsible for collaborating with colleagues in product management, research, coverage and the broader marketing team, including design, digital and multi-media.  With a client-centric, digital-first mindset, this person will be asked to advise on content strategy, and help maintain a content calendar that serves the needs of our audiences while building MSCI’s thought leadership brand across market segments, channels and platforms.

 

Experience creating content in the financial services/investment industry and capable of understanding key media, marketplace and content marketing trends, this person will be adept at working with academically minded researchers to present complex information in a way that is engaging and accessible.  Materials will include content for company websites, blog posts, social media, video and podcasts that deliver research insights, and value of the firm as a whole, in a stand-out, compelling manner.  The Content Writer works as part of the Research Content team, which sits within the broader Communications team, and includes Marketing Content, External and Internal Communications.

Your Key Ressponsibilities

  • Writing and editing accurate, clear, clean and highly readable content quickly and efficiently
  • Breaking down topics in institutional investing and risk management (including ESG and Climate, factors and a broad spectrum of asset classes) into a series of materials that can be consumed easily across formats
  • Mapping out plans, in collaboration with a global team of subject-matter experts, for the creation and delivery of materials
  • Drawing on data from MSCI and others to render materials, charts and other ways of expressing analysis
  • Enforcing and adhering to established style guides (e.g., MSCI's in-house style and brand guidelines, AP Stylebook) to ensure editorial clarity and quality
  • Comfortable managing one's own work, meeting deadlines and collaborating proactively with stakeholders and subject-matter experts; knowing when to lead and when to heed others’ counsel

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Understanding how to write with a specific tone relevant to different target client segments and different media types
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Energy, enthusiasm and creativity
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects/plans and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with graphic designers, multi-media producers and digital experience teams, as well as PR and academically-minded researchers
  • Confident self-starter able to navigate a matrix work environment and can remove roadblocks and to dig for information
  • Experience writing copy for websites, social media and video Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word; comfort with Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to drive a task to completion, professionalism and collegiality
  • 8-12 years of relevant writing experience
  • Experience working in a corporate environment; a financial services or investment institution is preferable
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects/plans and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
